Wuchopperen Supports Evonne Goolagong Free Indigenous Tennis Come and Try Day

The Come and Try Day is aimed at Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander kids aged five – 15 and will feature a talk by seven time GrandSlam title winner Evonne Goolagong Cawley, coaching by Indigneous coaches, and lots of fun tennis activities.

Wuchopperen CEO Dania Ahwang said it was an honour to support this event.

‘Physical activity makes a huge difference to kids’ health. Getting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander kids moving, playing and participating in healthy outdoor activities supports healthy futures,’ Dania said.

‘This program, which may see young participants selected for further coaching and equipment donation, has the capacity to open kids’ eyes to a sport they may never have tried before, and in Ms Goolagong Cawley, they have a genuine role model who has had a remarkable career and is now giving back to community through her Foundation.’

‘This year’s NAIDOC theme ‘Because of her, we can’ sums up Ms Goolagong Cawley. She won a Wimbledon title as a mum (the second woman to do so), and continues to break new ground with her contribution to community.

‘Wuchopperen is genuinely pleased to be supporting this event, and the Evonne Goolagong Foundation.’
