Wuchopperen’s Children and Families team once again participated in the White Rock State School’s NAIDOC Neighbourhood Day on Wednesday, July 23. This community event brought together over a dozen organisations from Cairns for an afternoon filled with fun, cultural activities, and community spirit.
More than 100 children and their families enjoyed a vibrant after-school celebration featuring a variety of engaging stalls and displays. The Wuchopperen team hosted a jewellery beading activity that was a massive hit among the kids.
“It was insane, the kids loved it, and it could best be described as organised mayhem,” said Keith Elasia, Wuchopperen’s Coordinator Connected Beginnings.
The event also included delicious food and a special opportunity for children to get up close with a baby crocodile, thanks to the team from Roaming Wild.
The White Rock State School NAIDOC Neighbourhood Day was a tremendous success, creating a joyful and social environment for families to connect and celebrate culture.
Wuchopperen is proud to support initiatives that foster community engagement and promote Indigenous heritage and wellbeing.
