We have opened appointments to now be booked for Telehealth Consultations. This means you can book an appointment and the doctor will call you on your phone at the agreed time. We can’t do all appointments over the phone, but if you call our team and request Telehealth we will be able to let you know if your appointment can be done on the phone.

For this to work, please make sure we have your contact details up to date.

Important information about our clinics and services

1. Making an appointment vs walk-ins.

While it is not compulsory, it is best to make an appointment with the doctor of your choice. We will accept walk-in clients but please understand that you might not see the doctor you want to; and you may have a longer wait then if you phoned ahead and made an appointment.

A standard appointment is 20 mins. Longer consultation appointments are required when having a full medical check-up or to complete Centrelink or Department of Transport paperwork, care plans and minor procedures. Please let reception know at the time of booking if you need a longer consultation appointment.

2. Communicating with Wuchopperen

Wuchopperen staff may communicate with you by phone, SMS text message, email and/or letter to remind you of an appointment and follow-up care. It is VERY IMPORTANT that if any of your contact details change, you tell us straightaway.

Please be aware that when you call Wuchopperen, reception staff will ask why you are calling and will take your name and number for the doctor to  review your request.

Interpreter service available: If you or a family member requires an interpeter we can organise this for you. Please let us know when you make an appointment. Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cultural support staff are also available.

Appointment reminders: Our service participates in national and state reminder systems, we also issue reminder letters advising of upcoming appointments.  If you do not wish your personal details to be registered for these services please advise reception.

Test results and follow-ups: Wuchopperen is committed to giving you the best possible care, so a follow-up appointment to receive your test results will be made before you leave the clinic.

3. Bulk-billed services

Wuchopperen bulk-bills Australian citizens and permanent residents who qualify for Medicare; and this means no cost to the individual.

If you are referred to another doctor or organisation by one of our doctors, or given a script for medication, please make sure you ask our staff if there are any extra costs associated. Many medicines will cost less if you qualify for Close the Gap medications, or can be free if you are a Health Care Card holder. We will also try to refer you to other bulk-billing services, however in some cases costs associated with external services and medicines may cost you. A schedule of fees applies to services provided by the Dental Clinic.

4. Travelling to the clinic

Both the Manoora and Edmonton clinics have accessible free on-site parking. Wuchopperen clients living between Palm Cove and Gordonvale can also access a free pick-up service but this transport must be booked at least 24 hours before an appointment, unless the matter is urgent and then transport may be arranged on the day.

Call the Manoora clinic on 4080 1000 or the Edmonton clinic on 4040 3100  when you have a confirmed appointment, to arrange a pick up.

5. Home visits

Wuchopperen does offer home visits on a case-by-case basis. If you feel you need a home visit please call the clinic on 4080 1000 and we will discuss your situation with a doctor and a doctor, nurse or health worker may come and see you at home. If you are very unwell you may be advised to go directly to the hospital.

In some circumstance (e.g. urgent follow-up care) phone access to doctors may be available and Telehealth consults are also available on request.
