Will your Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander child be starting Prep in 2019? Want to take part in a free, home based program which supports your child to thrive at school?
Wuchopperen Health Service’s HIPPY (Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngsters) Program is a free, family friendly, two year program which helps children achieve at school.
HIPPY benefits your child by:
- Encouraging a love of learning
- Maximising their chance of enjoying and doing well at school
- Promoting language and listening skills and developing concentration
- Building self-esteem and confidence in learning
- Improving relationships between parents and children.
If you’d like to find out more, Wuchopperen’s friendly HIPPY team will be holding information stalls at DFO, Cairns Central and Raintrees during January and February, including Tuesday and Thursday this week. As an added incentive, families who enrol in the Program at one of our information stalls can go into a draw to win one of three education packs worth $200.
HIPPY Coordinator Clare Kelly said the program benefits families on many levels.
‘Parents and kids love HIPPY, the program is free and fits into busy lives. We highly recommend Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families consider enrolling in HIPPY to help their little one thrive at school.’
