Free Infant Massage Program for New Parents

Wuchopperen Health Service’s Children and Families Centre has announced the re-launch of their free, five-session Infant Massage course designed to support new and expectant parents.

This very popular program has been reintroduced into the Children and Families term 3 program.

Commencing Thursday, July 31, this program aims to help families navigate the often challenging first year of their baby’s life by teaching essential massage techniques that promote health and well-being.

The first 12 months with a new baby can be both joyful and stressful as families adjust to new routines and challenges. The Infant Massage course offers a therapeutic approach to ease common concerns such as colic, reflux, chest congestion, teething, and disrupted sleep.

Through gentle touch and massage, parents can strengthen the bond with their babies, reduce stress, and enhance overall development.

“Our Infant Massage program is a wonderful way to empower parents with practical skills that benefit both mother and child,” said Raylene Laifoo, Wuchopperen’s Family Support Worker.

“We want to create a supportive environment where families feel confident in caring for their little ones, improving their health and happiness.”

The program covers basic massage techniques, safe use of oils, and tips on creating a calming atmosphere for babies. It is open to all Wuchopperen Health Service clients, including those expecting a child and mothers without babies who can practice on lifelike dolls. Sessions will be held every fortnight on Thursdays, providing flexible access to families.
